Neo-Medievalism and the AI Transformation
RAND researchers identified five structural trends reshaping the world order. Understanding these trends is essential for any organization attempting AI transformation in 2026.
The real asset was always what you know that others don't.
Cambiar turns that knowledge into enterprise value, at AI speed.
You stay in the driver's seat. We supply the engine room.
Your edge is what you know that others don't. We build the foundation that actualizes it: cutting-edge process, applied AI, and the economics they make possible, shipped in weeks, not roadmapped in quarters. Your knowledge is carried through the process. The value lands on your P&L.
The same engine room serves the people who invest in companies and the people who run them.
Protect what you own. Capture what's coming.
Investment protection and opportunity capture, from diligence before the deal to re-rating through the hold.
For Investors →Defend the core. Advance with AI.
Your team knows the business better than anyone. We supply the engine room, ship outcomes in weeks, then train your team to take it back.
For Your Company →Every quarter run on a legacy development model is value not created. The traditional path, 18 months of workshops before anything ships, now costs more than the transformation itself. Our measure is time-to-value-created: outcomes in production in weeks, measured on the P&L.
And every quarter on the old model, an AI-native competitor closes the gap you spent a decade building.
Cambiar was founded by two operators who have spent 30+ years building, scaling, and exiting technology companies through every major disruption since the dot-com era. Between them: 7 companies started, 6 sold, 21 acquired. Exits to Cisco, Aspect, SmartRent, and Serent Capital. Operations on five continents. We ship production code. Decks are a by-product.

Cambiar. Spanish for 'to change.' Not as a buzzword, but as a lived practice.
Cambiar was born from a simple observation: the organizations that need AI transformation the most are often the least equipped to navigate it. Private equity firms see the competitive imperative but lack specialized transformation partners. Family offices want trusted advisors, not transactional consultants. Government agencies face modernization mandates without the expertise to execute safely. And startups need velocity without sacrificing quality.
We've seen this pattern before. In the late 1990s, it was the internet. In the 2000s, cloud computing. In the 2010s, SaaS and mobile. Each wave created enormous value for the organizations that understood it deeply, and destroyed those that adopted it superficially or too late. AI is the next wave, and it's arriving faster than any that came before.
The question isn't whether to adopt AI. It's whether your organization can match the rate of change the world now demands. That requires more than technology. It requires clarity about why you're transforming, discipline in how you execute, and advisors who've navigated these transitions before.
Cambiar was founded by two people who understand both. Jason Goecke and Jonathan Taylor have built, scaled, and exited technology companies through every major disruption of the last three decades. They've operated on five continents. They work with NASA. They invest in the next wave. And now they're building an advisory that combines all of that experience into something the market desperately needs: transformation expertise grounded in operational experience and a clear-eyed view of where the world is heading.
Spanish for 'to change.' Our name is our mission. We exist to help organizations match the rate of change the world now demands.
Understanding cause and effect. We don't just implement AI tools, we trace the causal chains that determine whether transformation creates lasting value or expensive technical debt.
The universal constant. The fastest possible speed. We operate at the frontier, with the velocity that comes from having done this before, across multiple technology eras and economic cycles.
Jason Goecke is a Fortune 100 technology executive, startup founder, investor, and photographer who has spent his career at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and global operations.
Most recently, Jason served as Vice President and General Manager at Intel Corporation, where he led Commercial Client Software & Services and the Intel Unite business. He transformed a hardware-bundled software product into a SaaS cloud-native business generating annual recurring revenue, while driving a cultural and process transformation to modernize software development practices across the organization.
Before Intel, Jason spent three years at Cisco as Vice President and General Manager of Collaboration, leading strategic planning and management for Cisco Webex Teams, the Webex Developer Platform, and Webex Assistant. He joined Cisco through the acquisition of Tropo, Inc., where he served as President and CEO, growing the cloud telecom developer platform across 10 global locations spanning the US, UK, Spain, China, and Singapore.
Jason's international career includes five years as Country Manager for Spain and Portugal at Genesys, where he built a team from the ground up, opened offices in Japan, Australia, and Spain, and created strategic partnerships that endure today. He subsequently held senior roles in Barcelona, Amsterdam, and San Francisco.
Jason is currently a NASA SCIFLI Imaging Specialist (since November 2024), working on ground and airborne scientific imaging missions. He is Managing Partner of Cultiv8 Ventures LLC, a strategic advisor to multiple AI and technology startups, and a mentor with Intel Ignite. He holds five patents in IP telephony and email routing, and writes 'Dispatches From the Edge of Now' on Substack.
Education: Fort Lewis College, Computer Science.
Jonathan Taylor is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and builder who has started seven companies, run five, sold six, and acquired and integrated twenty-one others over a career spanning more than three decades.
Jonathan co-founded Voxeo in 1999 with a team of fourteen founders. He served as CTO (2000-2002), CEO (2003-2011), and Chairman (2012-2013), guiding the company through the dot-com crash, 9/11, and the 2008 financial crisis. Under his leadership, Voxeo raised $3M in angel funding and $35M in venture capital, executed a management buy-back in 2003, acquired sixteen companies, and grew to become a global leader in mobile customer service. Founders and employees owned 80% of Voxeo at exit when Aspect Software acquired the company in 2013. Investors received approximately 30% IRR.
Jonathan also co-founded Tropo, spinning it out of Voxeo in 2009. As Chairman, he focused on strategic planning, negotiations, and M&A. Cisco acquired Tropo in May 2015, delivering investors a greater-than-100% IRR.
Today, Jonathan is Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Sighthound, an AI and computer vision company whose ALPR technology processes over one billion customer images per year, and whose Redactor privacy tool is used by more than 500 cities, universities, and government entities. He is Co-Founder and Board Member of PhotoDay, which grew from zero to $50M+ in sales, a record pace among all companies he has built or invested in, before selling a majority stake to Serent Capital in June 2025.
Jonathan has been a NASA Langley Research Center Imaging Specialist since August 2022, working with NASA SCIFLI on ground and airborne scientific imaging missions. He is Managing Partner of Zendicate Ventures ($500K-$5M investments), Founder of Entrenext Hatchery (incubating AI ventures including vContext, Ago, VisionCal, Data.mom, and Concordantly), and Co-Founder of DroneScale.
His civic contributions include serving on the Board of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (2012-2025) and single-handedly defeating a $20M+ political action committee with a self-funded $125K digital campaign that killed Florida Amendment 1 in 2016, swinging polls from 80% support to under 60%.
Jonathan holds patents in neural network training and telephony systems. His investment philosophy: 'I don't subscribe to the power law theory in venture capital. All companies can succeed if given enough time and support. Stress is the only thing that kills startups.'
Jason and Jonathan were at the heart of the Voxeo → Tropo → Cisco journey. Jonathan founded both companies; Jason ran Tropo as CEO through the Cisco acquisition. Together they represent: 7+ companies started, 6+ sold, 21+ acquired, successful exits to Cisco, Aspect Software, SmartRent, and Serent Capital, operations across five continents, and shared work with NASA SCIFLI. Their combined experience is the foundation Cambiar is built on.
NASA's Scientifically Calibrated In-Flight Imagery program captures high-speed optical data during spacecraft reentry, rocket launches, and experimental flight tests. Both Cambiar founders are active imaging specialists supporting these missions, work that demands precision, real-time coordination, and zero margin for error.

Protect what you own. Capture what's coming.
AI is repricing entire sectors. We work both sides of that moment.
Avoiding catastrophic value destruction.
Know before you own. De-risk what you already do.
Before capital commits: what's durable and what's a wrapper. Spec quality, evaluation coverage, regenerability, data assets, model dependency, and IP provenance. Fixed-fee, decision-grade, fast.
Moving a portfolio company to a GenAI core without the big bang: every change reviewable before it's executable, regeneration in parallel with production, and residual risk quantified per system. We'd rather name the risks than sell around them.
A common telemetry layer across the portfolio surfaces underperformance while it's still correctable.
And when we work inside your portfolio companies, their leaders will find we speak their language too. For Your Company →
In every repricing, someone's write-down is someone else's platform.
AI is repricing entire sectors. That is the buy window.
We build the AI-native core on your platform company. Every add-on becomes an ingest, not an 18-month integration. Integration capacity stops governing your deal pace.
The margin story that makes the exit multiple credible, built on shipped product, not press releases.
Every transformed company compounds a proprietary data asset that improves decisions through the hold and prices into exit.
The re-rating is built inside the company, by its own people. See it from their seat →
One engagement demonstrates the next. Protection before the deal, capture after close, telemetry through the hold. And at the center, the thing we actually do: supplying the engine room until your team can run it.
Every quarter a portfolio company runs a legacy development model is value not created. The traditional path, 18 months of workshops before anything ships, now costs more than the transformation itself. Our measure is time-to-value-created: outcomes in production in weeks, measured on the P&L.
Too valuable to abandon. Too fragile to touch.
That's how it feels to run a company on a system that built your success and now holds it hostage. There's a way through that isn't a rewrite, isn't a big bang, and doesn't hand your company's brain to a vendor.
Protect the business you built from being repriced. We move your product to a GenAI core without the big-bang risk: changes reviewable before they're executable, regeneration in parallel with production, your revenue systems never blinking. The result is a company that's cheaper to run, faster to change, and worth demonstrably more to any future buyer.
Ship the product your roadmap keeps deferring. We take on product and engineering delivery with a GenAI development practice, outcomes in production in weeks, while training your team to run the new model themselves. When we leave, the speed stays.
Your product and engineering development, delivered by teams that work while you sleep: Oakland, Nairobi, and India.
Delivery velocity compounds. Your knowledge is carried through every step, encoded in assets you own.
We train your team to run the AI-native model onboard. Or keep us instead, your call.
This is the part no dev shop will say: the engagement is designed to make us unnecessary.
You cannot hire your way to a GenAI core in this market. The talent barely exists yet. You can become one: our engagements end with your team trained on the new model and your leadership readied for it, not just your codebase.
Every quarter on the old model, an AI-native competitor closes the gap you spent a decade building.
Whether or not an exit is on your horizon: the company this produces, knowledge encoded in assets you own, telemetry proving performance, a team that ships at AI speed, is exactly the company acquirers pay up for.
Talk to UsCode was never the asset. Your intent is.
The durable IP of a software business is what it knows the system must do: the specs, evaluations, and architecture that define intent. Not the code that happens to do it today. Code is now abundant and regenerable.
We build phoenix architecture: software designed to be safely rebuilt from its own stated intent. For a technical leader, this is liberation from legacy. For an owner, it's a company that's cheaper to run, faster to change, easier to diligence, and defended against the repricing hitting everyone else.
One model, start to finish. We run your development, rebuild your SDLC as we go, then hand it back.
We assume responsibility for your product and engineering development. Spec-driven development, phoenix architecture, follow-the-sun teams across Oakland, Nairobi, and India.
The work itself rebuilds your SDLC as AI-native. Specs and evaluations become your durable assets, code becomes regenerable, and delivery velocity compounds.
We train your team to take development back onboard with the new SDLC. Prefer ongoing outsourced development? We do that too. Either way, you choose. Dependency is never the default.
In a spec-driven, regenerative SDLC, the knowledge lives in reviewable, executable artifacts, not in our engineers' heads. Handing the system back isn't a risk. It's the design.
Development velocity shouldn't require compromising quality, or waiting for a single team to wake up. Follow-the-sun teams across Oakland, Nairobi, and India move your product continuously.
Teams across three regions working in synchronized shifts. When your San Francisco team logs off, your work doesn't stop.
Seamless handoffs enabled by specs and evaluations that hold context. Progress doesn't pause when you sleep.
Clear specifications, evaluations as the real codebase, auditable AI-assisted code generation. The discipline that separates production systems from prototypes.
We don't trade quality for velocity. We ship both, because we've built the systems to do it.
Every company also carries cultural debt, the gap between how its people work today and how a GenAI-core company must operate. We help retire both, with operator-readiness programs that build leadership buy-in before the transformation, not after it stalls.
Working notes on phoenix architecture, spec-driven development, and building with AI agents, published as the practice develops.
We don't just advise on transformation. We build alongside you.
Cambiar Studio is a separate venture entity that incubates companies, takes equity positions, and offers co-investment opportunities to PE and Family Office partners. Each portfolio company is incorporated as a separate Delaware C-Corp for clean governance and QSBS eligibility.
Studio maintains majority ownership. Exact split based on contribution of idea originator. We build what we see missing in the market.
Ownership ranges from 50/50 to more favorable founder terms depending on idea origin and participation. We partner, not dictate.
PE and Family Office clients can invest directly in portfolio companies alongside Studio. Shared upside, aligned incentives.
We've built and exited companies ourselves, through crashes, recessions, and platform shifts. We know which problems are real and which teams can execute.
We invest alongside you, same terms. Our upside is your upside.
Our advisory work gives us visibility into transformation gaps before they become obvious. Studio ventures often emerge from patterns we see working with PE firms and family offices.
Every portfolio company is a Delaware C-Corp with clean governance. QSBS-eligible where applicable. Designed for co-investors who expect rigor.
Each venture addresses a real gap we've observed in the AI transformation landscape.
Evolving standards at the heart of agentic coding.
Why it matters: AI-generated code needs structure. This is the infrastructure for disciplined AI-native development.
Debugging tools and observability for AI systems.
Why it matters: You can't improve what you can't see. Making the black box transparent.
Calendar-centric AI that understands context.
Why it matters: Scheduling is a proxy for priorities. Intelligent time management at enterprise scale.
Intelligently serving tables. Millions of them.
Why it matters: Enterprise data infrastructure that just works, without the complexity tax.
High availability coordination platform.
Why it matters: Distributed systems orchestration for the agentic era.
Scaling the American drone industry.
Why it matters: Domestic manufacturing and deployment infrastructure. Supply chain sovereignty.
"I don't subscribe to the power law theory in venture capital. All companies can succeed if given enough time and support. Stress is the only thing that kills startups."
Jonathan Taylor, Co-Founder
We build companies we believe in. We provide them the time, capital, and operational support they need to succeed. We don't chase unicorns, we build sustainable businesses that solve real problems.
Every portfolio company is structured as a Delaware C-Corp with clean cap tables and QSBS eligibility. We believe in governance, transparency, and treating our co-investors like the partners they are.
This isn't a spray-and-pray venture fund. It's a studio. We're operators who build, not financiers who bet.
We selectively offer co-investment opportunities to our advisory clients, PE firms and family offices who understand the businesses we're building because they're navigating the same transformation.

After 30 years building companies through multiple technology waves, one pattern is clear: organizations treat AI as a technology project when it's actually an organizational transformation.
The difference between "vibe coding" and real engineering becomes critical when AI is generating code. Here's why specification-driven development matters more than ever.
